Stringers Knob Historic Fire Tower
No rating yetBe first to reviewThe original wooden fire tower was destroyed in the January 2020 bushfires. You can still enjoy a picnic at this site and read the interpretive signs to cast your mind back in time to a bygone era with this experimental single pole fire tower. The tower was built in 1941 following the disastrous 1939 bushfires. The fire spotter's cabin is perched on top of a 28m tall pole made of 2 massive logs (red iron bark & yellow stringy bark trees) spliced lengthwise.
