Data Sources

Wildgrounds starts from government and open datasets. Each imported place should keep source attribution, licence metadata, coordinates and enough context for users to verify important facts.

Source and enrichment policy

Government and open datasets are the canonical base for Wildgrounds place, park and facility facts wherever available. Official source URLs, publishers and licence notes are retained for attribution and user verification.

Google Maps, Google Places, Mapbox and similar services are used as enrichment, map display, geocoding or fallback discovery layers only. Wildgrounds does not store copied Google review text or Google photos in its database. Community posts, reviews and uploaded photos are a separate user-generated layer and may be moderated before appearing publicly.

Users should verify closures, fire bans, fees and booking rules with official sources before travelling.

Confidence order

Admin-approved corrections and admin edits come first, followed by exact official source parsing, official-text AI extraction, official URL discovery, and lower-confidence enrichment signals.

Location data

Public coordinates are used for maps, distance estimates and place schema. They can come from open datasets, official pages, source metadata, geocoding or reviewed enrichment.

Update frequency

Data is refreshed periodically as official datasets and enrichment sources change.

Error correction

If you find incorrect place data, contact us or report the place.
